Meet the Board of Directors
President – Katie Eddy
Katie started working for P-W Insurance in 2007 and began her journey in the insurance world. She graduated with honors from Vanguard University earning a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and a minor in English. While in college she focused her studies on the cultures of the Tlingit & Haida and took summer courses to learn about the Haida Language.
As a fourth generation Alaskan, Katie returned to Alaska where she answered an ad to become an insurance agent & hasn’t looked back. During her career, she has earned her CIC and is a past president of the Alaska Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers. Katie and her husband, a commercial fisherman, have two boys, Hakon & Soren. She enjoys spending her free time exploring the outdoors with her boys and teaching them about wildlife, berries and plants in Southeast Alaska.

President Elect – Kylie Bailey
Kylie Bailey, ARM, ARM-P & CSRM

Kylie has 20+ years of insurance industry experience. She grew up in Palmer, Alaska with her family that was imbedded in the insurance industry. Earning a B.A. in Business Administration at Washington State University with majors in Risk Management & Insurance and Finance, she further advanced her education obtaining an Associate in Risk Management (ARM), ARM for Public Entities (ARM-P), and Certified School Risk Manager designations.
Seeking adventure, Kylie moved to the San Francisco Bay Area working at insurance brokerages such as Arthur J Gallagher & Co., Alliant Insurance Services, Inc., Willis Group / Hilb, Rogal, & Hobbs Co. Her experience consists of crafting complex catastrophic property programs and loss sensitive casualty programs in the public entity, real estate, hospitality, retail and construction sectors. Kylie’s been with Combs Insurance Agency since 2018.
Kylie loves spending time with her husband, Dave, and son, Asher. She enjoys traveling and living a healthy lifestyle.

National Director – Michael Combs
Michael F. Combs, CIC, CRM – Chief Executive Officer – Combs Insurance Inc.
Michael joined the family business in 1973 and was licensed as an insurance agent and broker in 1975. Serving as President of Combs Insurance from 1982 to 20 25. Now operating as the CEO he has been dedicated to the organizational well-being of the firm and providing professional, ethical, and knowledgeable insurance services to an array of clients.
Michael has over 50 years experience in the insurance industry including being the senior account executive for municipalities, school districts and utilities. He received his Certified Insurance Counselor designation from the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors in 1989 and the Certified Risk Manager International designation in 2005 both from the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research (now—Risk & Insurance Education Alliance). In 2014 he was recognized as having passed 25 years of continued education with the National Alliance.
Business related activities: Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, Society of Certified Risk Managers International, Alaska Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers, Inc. and served on the Alaska Worker’s Compensation Review & Advisory Committee.
He has served as an expert witness involving court cased surrounding interpretation of insurance contract language and applicable Alaska insurance law.
Michael was born and raised in Palmer, Alaska and currently resides there with his wife, Cheryl. He and Cheryl have six adult children and eleven grandchildren. He enjoys spending time golfing, camping, hunting and fishing in the great outdoors of Alaska. Michael is dedicated to the community and has been involved with various organizations throughout the Valley, including Rotary International, Wasilla and Palmer Chambers of Commerce, Mat-Su Miners Board of Directors and Youth Baseball.

Director – Ashlynn Kay
Ashlynn Kay is a born and raised Alaskan. She graduated from the University of Alaska Southeast in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Ashlynn began her insurance career with Shattuck & Grummett as a personal lines billing specialist/receptionist in 2018. Within that same year, Ashlynn obtained her P&C license and moved into a commercial lines CSR position with the same agency. She is now a Commercial Lines Account Manager with HUB International, since HUB’s acquisition of Shattuck & Grummett in 2021. Ashlynn has also owned and operated her own small cleaning business since 2021. In her free time, Ashlynn enjoys traveling, being outdoors/active, live music, and caring for her beloved pets.
Immediate Past President – Toi Gile
Toi currently works with the Davies Barry agency in Juneau. She has been in the Insurance industry for 25 years. Previously working at Shattuck & Grummett, first as a personal lines agent and then as a commercial agent for 22 years. She has been at DBI for the last4 years. She is married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoys hanging with her grandchildren, playing softball and volleyball.
